Every now and then, my contact lens patients would ask the question: “Can contacts get trapped or lost behind the eye?”

The good news is that it is impossible. The inner surface of your eyelids has a lining called conjunctiva. It covers the inside of the eyelids and extends to the white part of the eye. This continuous membrane make it impossible for anything get trapped behind the eyes.

If you cannot find the contact lens in your eye, there are only two scenario.
1. They are not in your eyes
2. They are underneath the upper or lower eyelids.
